Seoul Gwangjang Market Nearby Attraction : Changdeokgung A palace that fades into nature (Source : Korea Tourism Organization Website) Changdeokgung Palace is a palace on the foot of Eungbong, which is a ridge to the left of Mt. Bukak. Changdeokgung Palace, built east of Gyeongbokgung in 1405 (the 5th year of King Taejong’s reign), was used for a different purpose than neighboring Changgyeong Palace. As the two palaces were formed during the Joseon Dynasty, they were called Donggwol because they were called brother palaces. (Source : Changdeokgung Website) In the process of building all palaces during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 (the 25th year of King Seonjo’s reign) and rebuilding those in Gwanghaegun, King Heungseon’s father played the role of serving as the king’s palace of Joseon until he rebuilt Gyeongbokgung Palace.
