Tadpole noodle is mixed with corn starch and pushed down through wicker tray to form a smooth and jam like texture. Its shape resembles tadpole, thus, it inherited the name tadpole noodle. Its savory taste and soft texture makes it easy to digest and chew for both the children and the elderly.

Back in the days people used to eat this food as a main dish in Gangwon-do. Gangwon-do’s representative grain of potatoes and corn that grow well in mountainous terrain has developed diverse dishes, including a substantial meal with tadpole noodle, which is also good for health due to its high calorie content and high fiber content.
