Abai Village is famous for the TV drama Autumn in Korea and the entertainment show 1 Night 2 Days filming, so it is always crowded with many tourists as an attraction site.
Abai means an old man with a Hamgyeong-do accent.

Originally, it was born established when refugees from Vietnam lived in groups in Cheongho-dong, Sokcho after the Korean War.
It is a village where displaced people live with the pain of a divided nation, as they cannot go back to their hometowns.

Nowadays, the displaced people have established a site to make and sell food from their hometowns, they are also famous for having a taste of food from the mainland to foreigners.

When you visit the Abai Village, Gaetbae experience is a must. The price is also cheap as an adult only costs 500 won.
The annual rate is 150,000 to 200,000 passengers, so you can imagine how many people have crossed this experience.
A small Gaetbae that connects Cheongho-dong and downtown. After liberation, a large community of displaced North Koreans was established in Cheongho-dong, Seoul, and this was an indispensable form of transportation for the villagers.

Currently, you can walk from the land to the Abai Village by walking to the Seorak Geumgang Bridge, but it will be an interesting experience to ride the Gaetbae that the local residents ride.

As it is a ship that travels without power, the wires are pulled from the other side of the destination to move the boat.
As so, you can personally pull the wires to move the boat, a great experience to share.
