Jumunjin Fish Market Food Street : Samsuk Spicy Seafood Stew

Samsuk Stew is a spicy seafood stew with seaweed and various ingredients, which is made by adding crown daisy, minari, parsley, pumpkin, and onion. Samsuk has a soft flesh and is a fish caught only in the East Sea of Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Sokcho and Jumunjin. In the past, when caught, the fish looked ugly and bumpy and so it was being thrown away. However, after consuming the fish, it tasted good and thus became a local dish. It is said to be especially seasoned during winter and boiled mainly in spicy seafood stew.
