Gangneung Central·Seongnam Market Nearby Attraction : Chodang Tofu Village

Chodang Tofu Village is just south of Gyeongpo Beach, and is famous for their signature tofu. Gangneung’s most famous and readily consumed food, which are beans, go through several steps before becoming the Chodang tofu. When the process is finished, the beans form into a tofu with soft and light texture.

Chodang Heoyeop, the father of a famous writer/poet Heo-gyun (1569 ~ 1618), once dwelled in the village, which the village was named after him as Chodang. The original house of Heo-gyun has been reconstructed from the old Korean traditional house to a more modern-day fitting house.
