Gangneung is the only place where tea ceremony was held for the first time in Korea. Therefore, coffee culture was able to develop early because it was more population than any other regions.

Now better known as Gangneung Coffee Street, where coffee vending machines of the 5th to 6th generations of the 1980s were created and attracted attention as a place for dating.

Currently, Gangneung Coffee Street has cafes of coffee artists known as the first generation of Korean coffee, along with coffee shops, a coffee museum, and coffee factories. Sitting on the terrace seat on the panoramic East Sea of Anmok Beach is especially popular.

Every October, Gangneung Coffee Festival is held where you can taste Barista’s hand drip coffee and have various experience events including jazz concert.
